<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, Ja,nuarjr 3, 1949
<br />at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the la.st meeting were read _and
<br />approved. There were no claims of suppliers to be approved.
<br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per-
<br />taining to his department were discussed.
<br />PARKING METER DEPA�iTT,,1EP TT: Mr. Maurice Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the week
<br />;ending December 31, 1948. °
<br />ENrGI11EERI1TG DEPARTMENT: Excavation bonds were approved and ordered filed for Victor
<br />Trippel, William H. Burke, 1,-nthony Swiatowy and George W. Schwind d/b/a, United Beating
<br />and Plumbing Company.
<br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr, Melton 0, Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters
<br />pertaining to his department were discussed.
<br />A change was approved by contract, signed by the Board, in the water heaters in
<br />the Street Department buildings, from gas to electric heaters.
<br />There being no further business to come before the'Board, the meeting was adjourned
<br />at 10:00 A.M.

<br />An application for a parking lot was Dresented by James Ston, 121 E. Pendle Street,
<br />for a. lot to be located at 333 South St. Joseph Street. This was referred to the `iraffi
<br />Engineer for investigation.
<br />PARKING PATER DEPARTIlEl' Mr. iiaurice Vernet, Auditor, filed his report for the week
<br />ending January 8, 1949.
<br />ENGINE4_1E tili_G DEPARTMENT: Excavation bonds were approved and ordered filed for Norman
<br />Collmcr, 1-1arry Nicodemus -, Slutsky Plumbing> & ideating Con_ a.ny and Anthony Ku jawski & Son.
<br />A letter was received from the City Plan Commission indica.ting that they approve
<br />the vacation of two sections of alley in Lincoln Terrace Addition. The Engineering
<br />Department was directed to prepare a Vacation resolution for same.,
<br />DEDICATIOT'?
<br />W.-FIEREAS, a plat with dedication of streets and alleys indicated thereon, is now
<br />presented to the Board, to be known as Belleville Unit "All Addition, an addition to the
<br />City of South bend, Indiana, and
<br />This Plat and dedication is filed in the records of the Board of Public lorks and
<br />Safety in Row 7#21, Drawer „�L , and recorded in Book Page , in the Recorder's
<br />Office of St. Joseph County, I
<br />NTOI°J, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
<br />of South Bend, Indiana, that all public streets, alleys and public places dedicated to
<br />the public use in said plat are hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on
<br />be half of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
<br />STREET DEPA[!TM ANT: Mr. Melton 0. Brannan, Street Corimissioner, was present and matters
<br />pertaining to his department were discussed.
<br />Mr. :Brannan informed the Board that he was in need of several pieces of equipment
<br />and the Board directed him to prepare specifications for same and present them to the
<br />Board.
<br />CEMETERY Di]PAR .TENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertain-
<br />ing to his department were discussed.
