458 <br />December 6, 19, 8 <br />A regular meeting of the board of 'Public Works tiaras held on Monday, December 6, 1948 <br />at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. Sherman Ellison Agency asking for the privilege of renewing <br />the insurances policies on the city owned cars, with the premiums on the policies total- <br />ing 1,942.95, was ratified and accepted by the Board. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's bonds were approved and ordered filed for Sam <br />Cossman, Abraham C. Bird and James Kovacsics. <br />The City Plan Commission indicated b letter that they do not approve the vacation <br />of a portion of Columbia Street, and the Board therefore, directed the Clerk to inform <br />the -petitioner that the Board cannot grant their petition to vacate. <br />An agreement between the City of South Bend and Rocco Simeri was approved by the <br />board wherein Mr. Simeri agrees to furnish to the City a. one and one-ha.lf and crane, <br />truck"and ball together with an operator for the sum of $375.00 per week ( 0 hrs.), <br />with a. charge of overtime for said services and equipment the sum of $10,00 per hour. <br />The City is to furnish the gasoline and oil to operate the said crane,'suck and ball, <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: The bid of Ben Medow, Inc., was accepted for one one -ton pick-up <br />truck, their bid being, in the Bo`r d's opinion, the lowest and best bid received. <br />Thomas L. Hickey, Inc., filed a performance bond to cover the general construction <br />of the Street Department buildings. <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszezynski, Sexton, was present and matters perta. <br />to his department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:45 A.M. <br />ATTEST: <br />Clerk <br />0 <br />0 <br />• <br />0 <br />• <br />0 <br />
