L. Thompson, Freight <br />Agent and Mr. S. J. Crumpacker, representing the Grand Trunk Railroad Company, and Mr. <br />F. H. Garner, Superintendent, and Mr. Arthur Anderson, Engineer of Crossing Protection, <br />of the New York Central Railroad, were present at the meeting, at the request of the <br />Board, to discuss the precautionary measures and safeguards to protect the public at the <br />railroad crossings within the city. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to form <br />a committee to make a survey of all crossing's in the city. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A Contractor's bond was approved and ordered filed for Robert <br />M. Edwards. <br />L. S. Emmert filed plans and specifications for construction of a so -vier 170 feet <br />west of center line of Chapin Street from Napier Street 150 feet South, which were <br />approved by the City Engineer and the Board. The Easerr nt to cover same has already <br />been approved by the Board is filed in the office of the Board and is recorded in the <br />Recorder's office of St. Joseph County in Book No. Page No. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2582 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on theassessment roll showing the award <br />of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of an. <br />alley' <br />South`.6f Jeftnirigs Avenue from Michigan Street East to the West line of the North and <br />South Alley under Vacation Resolution No. 2582. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remon- <br />strances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices ar <br />same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, decides to take final action on <br />said assessment roll and finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been bene- <br />fitted and damaged in the amounts shoifn on said roll. The Board, therefore, declares <br />same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceed- <br />in;s closed and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from <br />the various property owners so benefitted and all proceedings had with reference to said <br />alley vacation are hereby sustained. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2583 <br />11 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC ?STORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA r That it <br />. ;1 is desirable. to vacate the following: <br />Victoria: Street from Twyckenham Drive to York Road. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such vacation:; <br />I <br />Lots numbered 250 .to 256 inclusive, Ridgedale 5th Addition, and Lots numbered 35 to! <br />40 inclusive, Twydkenham Hills'Section "A" Addition. <br />Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 3rd day of December and on the <br />loth day of December, 1948 in the South Bend daily Tribune and the Weekly Mirror. <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 00th day of December, 1948 at <br />11:00 A.M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all personsinterested in or affected <br />by these proceedings. <br />Adopted this 29th day of November, 1948. <br />R.
