<br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Thursday, September 30,
<br />1948 at 7:30 P. M. Mr. Troeger was absent.
<br />The meeting was called for the purpose of holding a public hearing on a. street
<br />improvement.

<br />For the improvementnof Sibley Avenue under Improvement Resolution No. 2580,
<br />1948, adopted September 7, . 1948 from West line of Wilber Street to East line of College
<br />Street by draining, grading and paving the roadway with a Class C, Pavement, Type 1 -
<br />Portland Cement Concrete; Type 2 - Bituminous Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Con-
<br />crete Surface; Type 3 - Bituminous Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Coated Aggregate
<br />Surface; Type 4 - Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface; Type 5 - Com-
<br />pacted Aggegate Base, Bituminous Coated Aggregate Surface.
<br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and being fully advised in
<br />the premises, the Board decides that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed
<br />for said improvement are equal to the estimated cost of the same as reported by the City
<br />Civil Engineer. Therefore
<br />Be It Resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South
<br />Bend, Indiana., that Improvement Resolution No. 2580, 1948, duly passed by this Board
<br />on September 7, 1948 for the above improvement, be and the same is hereby in all things
<br />confirmed and the improvement is hereby ordered to be made.

<br />PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ADOPTED
<br />NO. 2580, 1948

<br />BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South
<br />Bend, Indiana, that the Profiles, Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications and
<br />Estimates approved by this Board on the 7th day of September, 1948, for the improvement
<br />of Sibley Avenue from West line of Wilber Street to East line of College Street by drain-
<br />ing, grading and paving the roadway with a Class C Pavement, Types one (1) to Five {5}
<br />inclusive, be and the same are hereby adopted and ordered placed on file in the office
<br />of the Department of Engineering of this Board.

<br />October 25, 1948, at the hou3Z of 10:00 O'clock A.M. C.S.T. is hereby fixed as
<br />the time, and the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety in the City Hall of
<br />this City, as the place, when and where the Board of Public Works and Safety will open
<br />and consider bids for the above named improvement, provided all bids for the construction
<br />of said work shall be filed in the office of the Clerk of this Board before 10:00 o'clock
<br />A.M. C.S.T. of said day. Each bidder for said work shall enclose with his bid a certifie
<br />check, payable to the Treasurer of this city in the sum of two and one-half (21/2) per
<br />cent of the amount of his bid or a bid bond for two and one-half (2 1/2) percent of the
<br />amount of his bid, to,insure the execution of this contract, if said work is awarded to
<br />him.
<br />The Clerk of this Board is hereby ordered to give notice by two weekly pub-
<br />lications of the time and place, when and where bids will be received, opened and con-
<br />sidered for the construction of said work. Said Clerk shall state in said notices
<br />that Each bidder shall enclose with his bid a certified check or bid bond for above na
<br />amount, to insure the execution of this contract.
