"I <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A Contractor's bond in the amount of $1,000.00 was approved and <br />ordered filed for Wilbur D. Ruffner. <br />-Mr. William Fett, Engineer for the Sollitt Construction Company, came before the <br />Board to ask permission for his company to construct a fixed canopy for the Romy-Hammes <br />Building, The Board granted permission for the said construction providing that the <br />plans in other respects fulfills all the requirements of the Building Department. <br />Permission was granted for a canopy to be constructed in front of the Alexander <br />Vogel Store at 810 West Indiana Avenue providing that the plans are approved by the <br />Building Department. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2563 <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by <br />the Board of Public Works for the vacation of the first alley North of Elwood Avenue <br />from Illinois Street to Chicago Street, and , the first alley North of Lincoln Way West <br />from Chicago Street to Sheridan Street under vacation resolution No. 2563. The Clerk of <br />the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having <br />appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, <br />seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the <br />said alleys be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to prepare an assessment <br />roll covering the assessment of benefits and the award of damages to the surrounding <br />properties. <br />Mr. Ray S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing,the <br />award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the <br />first alley North of Elwood Avenue from Illinois Street to Chicago Street, and, the <br />first alley North of Lincoln Way West from Chicago Street to Sheridan Street under vaca- <br />tion resolution No. 2563. <br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in <br />the City Hall at 11:00 A.M. on the 6th day of July, 1948, for the purpose of hearing <br />and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation, <br />and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of <br />damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishing <br />same on the 18th day of June and on the 25th day of June, 1949 in the South Bend Daily <br />Tribune and the Weekly mirror. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2 56)- <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by <br />the Board of Public Idorks for the vacation of the first alley East of Vernon Street from <br />Dubail-Avenue South to Dayton Street under vacation resolution No. 2%4.
