r
Siemens Industry, Inc,
Siemens will always take the time and in good faith consider unbundling large subcontracts into multiple smaller
subcontracts to better fit the capacities of the local market environment. By creating smaller subcontract
Opportunities, we ensure that the size of the opportunity is not disproportionately challenging the MWBEs. While
Siemens wants to see MWBE on all opportunities, we must also be assured the company has the capacity to
successfully perform on the project; it is not beneficial to anyone if the selected company cannot financially and
soundly complete their portion of the project.
Siemens will endeavor to distribute as many opportunities as feasible among multiple MWBE and impress upon
those companies to do their part in driving economic growth of the local Community. Distributing the
opportunities among many MWBEs allows for all types of trades to be involved in building and creating a space
to "enhance the quality of life, opportunities for cultural enrichment, and the caliber of arts education",
Siemens is currently developing a Development Program that is intended to match select diverse companies
with development activities to increase their capabilities. Some development activities can include our
Temperature Controls Electrical Estimation seminars taught by one of our in-house electrical estimators and
Temperature Controls Installation videos. The Temperature Controls Electrical Estimation seminar provides the
companies with information about how to read our drawings, what we expect to be included in each bid, and
how to more accurately put together bid packages. The companies will be chosen for a number of factors, which
could include potential strategic alignment in the future and interest in developing capabilities for participation on
projects. Siemens will encourage MWBEs to learn more about the Supply Chain Finance Program or any local
minority financial institutions, if cash flow may be a concern.
It is part of our standard procurement process to provide feedback to all companies about their proposals. If a
business is unsuccessful in bidding an opportunity, our Procurement and Operations teams will work with them
to help them de -scope their bid and understand how they can improve on the next bid. We also provide the
interested companies with adequate information about the plans, details, and specifications, and requirements
of the contracts in a timeline manner. By holding Outreach Events and General Interest Solicitations, we are
able to gauge the interest of MWBEs and reach out to them much quicker when an opportunity is available.
Building Technologies Division
6200 Technology Center Drive Tel: 317-293-8880
Indianapolis, IN 46278 Fax: 317-293-0374
