370 <br />April 26, 1948 <br />A regular meeting of <br />the Board of Public <br />1-orks was held <br />on Monday, April <br />26, 1948 <br />at 9:30 A.Ml j All members <br />were present. Minutes <br />of the last <br />meeting were read <br />and <br />approved. Mr. Ernest <br />biller, Traffic Engineers was <br />present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />A petition was received asking that the Board stop heavy truck traffic on Indiana <br />Avenue and Brookfield Street by trucking cor panies and the petition was ref erred to Mr. <br />Miller for action. <br />A petition was received astVirg that truer traffic be prohibited on Grace Street <br />from Arnold Street to the Oliver Factory. This was referred to i r. Miller for investi- <br />gation and report. <br />ENGII`IEERI_! G DFPARTI,. T: , Contractor's bonds in the amount of �1,000.00 each were approve <br />and,ordered filed for L. C. Harris, Curtis IThel.rs7 Leonard F. Fray, Raymond DeMeyer.and <br />E. T. Tranberg. <br />An Excavation bond in the amount of �1,000.00 was approved and ordered filed for <br />Barl C. DeVan. <br />A Surety bond in the amount of 31,000.00 was approved for the Brown Trucking <br />Company of Michigan City, Indiana for a sewer construction in South Bend; <br />The Colpaert Realty Corporation filed an excavation bond in the amount of ��10'000. <br />which was approved and ordered filed. <br />Plans were approved by the Board for certain sewers being constructed in E-3elle <br />Village. <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll. showing the award <br />of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the alley <br />South of Western :"venue from the East line of Carroll Street ttreet to the West line of <br />the North and South Alley, AND, the alley South of ;.extern Avenue from the 1lest line of <br />Columbia Street to the Eart line of the Forth and South alley under vacation Resolution <br />No. 2 1. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written re- <br />monstrances were filed, the Clerkof the Board submitted proofs `of publication of <br />notices and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several <br />lots and parcels of land have been benefitted and damaged in the amounts shown on said <br />roll. The Board, therefore' decides to take final action on said assessment roll and <br />declares same in all things ratified confirmed and approved without modification and <br />the proceedings closed and the alleys vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefits <br />assessments from the various property oi,rners so benefitted and all proceedings had with <br />reference to said alley vacation are hereby sustained. <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll_ showing the award <br />of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the alley <br />South of Fredrickson Street from Johnson Street to the East line of the alley 7aest of <br />Johnson Street under Vacation resolution No. 2562. <br />In the above named assesementroll, no -remonstrators appeared and no written re- <br />monstrances were filed. The Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of.publication of <br />notices and same were found_ sufficient, and the -oard, therefore, finds that the several <br />lots and parcels of land have been benefitted and damaged in -the amounts whowrn on said <br />roll..
