Miller for investi- <br />gation and report. <br />Millen recommended that stop signs be place at the intersection of Ford and <br />Phillipa Streets and the Board approved the installation. <br />BUS ROUTES: Mr. Miller informed the Board that he had recommended to the Northern <br />Indiana Transit Company, Inc., that on the Fellows Street bus line every other bus <br />should run down �`1]wing Avenue and alternate with the bus running down Calvert Street. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A report was received from the City Plan Commission indicating <br />that they do not recommend the closing of the first alley South of Elwood Avenue from <br />O tBrien Street to the West line of the alley West of Johnson. Street, and the Board, <br />therefore did not order the alley vacated. <br />A resolution was received from Ber_dix Local #9, relative to low-cost housing for <br />Veterans, and was referred to the South Bend Housing Authority. <br />Contractor's bonds were approved and ordered filed for Alex E. Ross and Stanley <br />J. Wachowiak. <br />Vacation Resolution No. 2561 <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by <br />the Board of Public 1-orks for the vacation ,of the alley South of Western Avenue from <br />the East line of Carroll Street to the Wgst line of the North and South alley, And, <br />the alley South of Western Avenue from the West line of Columbia Street to the East line <br />of the North and South alley under Vacation Resolution No. 2561. The Clerk of the Board <br />showed sufficient proofs of publication. A petition was received remonstrating against <br />the closing of the alleys, but the description of the property was not correct. It was <br />therefore moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally <br />adopted and the said alleys be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to <br />prepare an assessment roll covering the assessments of benefits and the award of damages <br />to the surrounding properties. <br />Pair. Ray S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the <br />ward of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the above vacation. <br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in <br />the City Hall at 11:00 A.I�i. on the 26th day of April, 19 �8, for the purpose of hearing <br />and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation, <br />and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of <br />damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property oirners by publishing <br />aame on the 9th day of April and on the 16th day of April, in the South Bend Daily Tri- <br />bune and the Weekly Mirror. <br />Vacation Resolution -,,?o. 2562 <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by the;; <br />;;Board of Public Works for the vacation of the alley South of Fredrickson Street from <br />;Johnson Street to the East line of the alley West of Johnson Street under Vacation Resol-11 No. 2562.
