Holder -man <br />8.00 <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: The Traffic Engineer informed the Board that he was in need of <br />traffic signals and equipment and a one ton'pick up�.truck and the Clerk of the Board <br />was directed to advertise for same with bids to be returnable on March 15, 1948. <br />ENGINEERING'DE'PARTMENT: A petition to vacate two alleys? South of Western Avenue from <br />the East line; of Carroll Street to the -West line of the North and South alley and from I <br />the West line. of Columbia Street to the East line of the North and South alley, was <br />referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. <br />-------- - - ---- --- ----- - <br />- Tnis bbin:g the -crate -set-for a hearing on the contract for the Studebaker Corporationl� <br />to run a spur railroad across Chippewa Avenue parallel with the existing tracks said <br />hearing was held. No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed with <br />the Clerk of the Board, and the�Board, therefore, being fully advised in the premises <br />approved the contract with Studebaker Corporation and directed that it be sent to the <br />Common Council. <br />A petition was received asking for the privilege of removing the curbing abutting <br />on North Hill Street at 401-409 North Hill Street. This was referred to the City Engine <br />for investigation and report. <br />The Board approved sewer extensions on Dubail, Dayton and Randolpks Streets submitted <br />by The Whitcomb and Feller Company, <br />EPART14ENT: Mr. M. 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per - <br />to his department were discussed. <br />All bids received for opening on February 24, 1948, were returned unopaned to the <br />bidders inasmuch as there was an error in the first advertisement and the date was <br />changed to March 1, 1948. <br />The Street Commissioner informed°the .Board that he was in need of an air compressor <br />nd the Clerk of the Board was directed to get bids from three reputable dealers by <br />etter. <br />EMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining <br />o his department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />t 12:30 P.M. <br />TTEST: <br />March 1, 1948 <br />BOA _ PUBLIC WORKS <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, March 1, 1948 <br />at 9:00 A.M.
