Holder -man 8.00 � TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: The Traffic Engineer informed the`Board that he was in need of traffic signals and equipment and a one ton pick up(.truck and the Clerk of the Board was directed to advertise for same with bids to be returnable on March 15, 1948. ENGINEERING'DEPARTMENT: A petition to vacate two alleys, South of Western Avenue from the, East line.of Carroll Street to the %Test line of the North and South alley and from the ?Hest line.of Columbia Street to the East line of the North and South alley, was referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. This -being the - date set for---ahearing on -the contract for The Studebaker Corporation( to run a spur railroad across Chippewa Avenue parallel with the existing tracks said hearing was held. No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed withIl the Clerk of the Board, and the°Board, therefore= being fully advised in the premises approved the contract with Studebaker Corperation and directed that it be send to the Common Council. A petition was received asking for the privilege of removing the curbing abutting on North Hill Street at 401-409 North Hill Street. This was -referred to the City Enginee for investigation and report. ° The Board approved sewer extensions on Dubaill Dayton and Randolph Streets submitted by The Whitcomb and Keller Company, EPART14ENT: Mr. M. 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per - to his department were discussed. • i All bids received for opening on February 24, 1948, were returned unopened to the ` bidders inasmuch as there was an error in the first advertisement and the date was (changed to March 1, 1948.
