This was referred to the City Engineer and the Ztreet Department; <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Lesze ynski, Sexton, was present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed, <br />Tar. Minutes of the last meeting were <br />read and approved. There were no claims of suppliers to be approved. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr, Ernest Miller Traffic Engineer, was <br />� L , g' , present and matters <br />pertaining to.his department were discussed. <br />i <br />I� TAXI -CABS: Mr, Feeney and Mr. Stratigos, Attorneys, representing the.Veterans <br />Cab.Company, came before the Board to petition for a cab stand in front of the <br />Odd Fellows Building, and also to ask for a temporary cabstand until the new <br />i taxi -cab ordinance has been passed by the Common Council. No action was taken. <br />i <br />BIDS: Mr. Pajakowski having asked for bids on an adding machine, the following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Underwood Corporation $238.50 <br />Burroughs Adding Machine Co. 264.60 <br />Victor Adding Machine Co.. 220,50 <br />!j The Board accepted the bid of the Underwood Corporation, their bid being, in the <br />.11 Boardis opinion, the lowest and best bid received. <br />I ENGINPEERING DEPART <br />MENT: Tar. Ralph Allen, representing the StudebakerCorporation, <br />came before the Board.to petition for the installation of two more railroad tracks <br />parallel with and adjacent to the tracks now in use crossing Chippewa Avenue near <br />�I the Studebaker Aviation Plant, The Board took the _matter under advisement'. <br />It <br />WHEREAS$ a quit -claim deed is now presented to the Board releasing the follow- <br />ing described tract.of land to the City of South Bend for alley purposes: q <br />• <br />• <br />A tract of land in the Southeast Quarter of Section 18, Township Thirty-seven <br />North, Range.Three East, described as follows Beginning at -a point 16 feet North <br />of the Northwast corner of Lot Numbered 1 Roseland Park Addition; thence West with <br />the North line of a public alley 689 feet to the West line of Hoke Street; thence <br />North 4 feet; thence .past 689 feet to the Vilest line of Ironwood Drive; thence South <br />4 feet to the place of beginning. <br />This ,quit -claim deed is filed in the records of the Board .of ;XIorks and ,,oafetY <br />of the City of South Bend in Row #21, Drawer #4 and recorded in the Recorderts c,_._... <br />office of St. Joseph County in Book # Page # . <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public ':'forks and Safety of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, that the tract of land dedicated to the public use in <br />said quit -claim deed is herel� ac�epted and approved by said Board for and on be- <br />half of the City of South B'u ., I diana. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton 0, Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and <br />matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />Mr. Gadbury of the Butler Manufacturing Company and Tar. R. Jordan and Mr. <br />Ullery of the Miller Steel and Supply Company came before the Board to discuss <br />various types of temporary buildings for the Street Department. They were asked <br />to send specifications of their buildings to the Board. <br />
