This <br />was referred to Mr. M'1ller and he tiaras directed to ivrite to the State _Highway Commission <br />informing them of the petition. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractorts bonds in the amount of $1;000.00 each were <br />approveed and ordere `sled for E. T, Tranberg, Thos. L. Hickey, and Steven Sharkey. <br />A performance bond in the amount of 05000.00 eras filed by Virgil H. Reed and <br />Homer L. Short doing business as Reedt s Construction Company, Mishawaka, Indiana. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Comm ssioner, was present and matters <br />pertaining T(T ois department were discussed. <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertain- <br />ing o is epar ment tir-ere discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourne <br />at 10 : 00 A. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. Tubbs <br />e�503.96 <br />TRAFFIC DEPARUvIENT: Mr. Ernest Mijler, Traffic Jnginer, was present and matters <br />pertaining Eo ni s . epartm:2ent were discussed. <br />Mr. Miller presented plans for traffic light installations at the intersections d <br />of Diamond and Blaine Avenues and Angela Boulevard which all converge at Portage Avenue;; <br />which will operate at the will of pedestrians and motorists alike by push buttons and 1 <br />also a set of out -of -the ordinary stop and go lightsat i'lashington Avenue and olive <br />Street which will operate normally except that when the gates are down and the flasher <br />signal is warning of the approach of a train over the adjacent New York Central right <br />of way, the traffic lights will also flash red in all directions, permitting progress <br />east west and north, but not south across the tracks. The Board approved both sets <br />of plans. <br />mr.-Quallsinformed the Board that a traffic signal at the northwest corner of <br />Sample and IJain streets had been hit by an automobile, driver unknown, and damaged. <br />The signal was repaired and placed back in service at a cost of 025.85. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A Contractorts bond in the amount of 1`1,000.00 was approved <br />and ordered i e or Harry Kemble. <br />The Board approved an easement to the City of South Bend, the right to construct <br />and maintain_ a storm water sealer for the purpose -of draining Sylvan Glen Street under <br />lots 50 and 10 in block B, Bercliff Estate, a strip approximbately 10 feet wide. <br />Vacation Resolution No. 2555 <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by <br />the Board of Public works for the vacation of the alley North of Hoinrard Street from - <br />Francis Street to the first alley E4st under vacation resolution 23o. 2555. The Clerk <br />of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having <br />appeared and no rritten remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved., <br />seconded and unanimousiV carded that the said resolution be finally adopted and the <br />said alley be vacated.
