RM s, 1002 Miner Street <br />in i�c`i5li g that they had reviewed his past record, and after a full consideration <br />of the facts concluded that they could not recommend the issuance of a taxi -cab <br />drivers license. <br />ENG11TEERING DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ray S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assess- <br />ment roll showing 7e.awards of damages and the assessments of benefits in the <br />matter of the vacation of the alley South of Ewing Avenue from Michigan Street West <br />to the first alley t^hest of Michigan Street under vacation resolution No. 2554. <br />In:the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet <br />in the City Hall at 11:00 A.M. on the 17th day of,March, 1947, for the purpose of <br />hearing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by <br />said vacation, and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together <br />with the amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the pro- <br />perty owners by publishing same on the,28th day of February and on the 7th day of <br />March' 1947 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the Weekly Mirror. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and matters <br />pertaining o his department were discussed. <br />After tabulating the bids received at the last meeting, the award for,road <br />oil was made to the Standard Oil Company it being, in the Boardts opinion, the <br />lowest and best bid received. <br />The bid for crushed stone from the France Stone Company was rejected because <br />it contained an escalator clause and the Clerk of the Board was authorized to exe- <br />cute a contract for crused stone to be used in the street department, on the open.:.. <br />market. <br />The Street Commissioner informed the Board that he was in need of a distribu- <br />tors a grader and a one-half ton pickup truck. Rans, Taxi -cab driver, came before the Board to appeal <br />ion of the Board not to recommend the issuance of a taxi -cab drivers <br />license to him. The Board discussed the case further but found no reason to <br />reverse their decision. <br />I <br />The Board reviewed the cases of Joseph L.
