291 <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2554 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS 4F THE CITY OF SOUTIi BEND INDIINA: <br />That it is desirable to _vacate the . following- <br />I� The alley South of' 'Ewing -Avenue from Michigan Street West to the First alley <br />it West of Michigan Street. <br />j The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such <br />(vacation: <br />A part of the West half (W2) of the Northwest quarter (N.W. 4) of Section <br />24, Township 37 North,, Range 2 east, which part is bounded by a line running as <br />I' follows: Vis : <br />Beginning at the point of intersection of the original south line of Ewing <br />Avenue in the City of South Bend with the West line of Michigan Street; thence <br />West with said original South line of Ewing Avenue 164.8 feet; thence South par- <br />allel with Michigan Street 200 feet; thence East parallel with Ewing ,Avenue 164.88 <br />feet, thence North with the West line of Michigan Street 200 feet to the place of <br />beginning, excepting, therefrom a strip of land 20 feet in width North and South <br />taken off of and -from the entire length of the forth side thereof, heretofore <br />tak en for the widening of Ewing Avenue <br />And <br />Lots numbered 1 to 6 inclusive in Stull's 6th Addition. <br />i <br />Notice of this resolution shall bepublished on the 31st day of January and <br />on the 7th day of February, 1947 in the South Bend Daily Tribune an d,the Weekly <br />Mirror. <br />• <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 17th day of February, 1947 <br />at 11:00 A.M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons -interested in <br />or''affected by these proceedings. <br />I� <br />Adopted this 27th day of January, 1947. <br />• <br />0 <br />APPR OVED : <br />R. Cummings <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and <br />ma ers,per aining to his department were discussed. <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for materials for the Street <br />Department, the following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Taylor Brothers, Gravel, as is, at the pit, and loaded by the <br />South Bend, Indiana Street Department .25 per yard <br />Gravel, as is, at the pit, and loaded by <br />Taylor Brothers .50 per yeard <br />Gravel, as is,delivered by Taylor Brothers <br />to the Street Department or any specified <br />place not to exceed an�';_equivalent distance <br />(32) miles 1.40 per yard <br />South Bend Sand & Gravel <br />South Bend, Indiana Washed Sand - concrete or mortar .75 ton <br />Washed rice gravel #12 .55 ton <br />Washed gravel -concrete #5 1.,00 ton <br />}The above bids were accepted by the Board. <br />Bids received from Kuert Concrete Company, Standard Oil Company, Tu.ftread <br />Roads, Ines Andresen Corporation, Taranoyl Company and E. R.'Newland Qompany <br />were all rejected for cause and the.Clerk of ,the Board was directed to readver- <br />tise for materials for the Street Department, with bids returnable on February <br />17, 1947. <br />CEMETERY DEBARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynskis Sexton, was present and matters <br />pertaining o is aepartment were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 11:30 A-M, <br />• i!
