291 ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2554 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS 4F THE CITY OF SOUTIi BEND INDIINA: That it is desirable to _vacate the . following- I� The alley South of' 'Ewing -Avenue from Michigan Street West to the First alley it West of Michigan Street. j The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such (vacation: A part of the West half (W2) of the Northwest quarter (N.W. 4) of Section 24, Township 37 North,, Range 2 east, which part is bounded by a line running as I' follows: Vis : Beginning at the point of intersection of the original south line of Ewing Avenue in the City of South Bend with the West line of Michigan Street; thence West with said original South line of Ewing Avenue 164.8 feet; thence South par- allel with Michigan Street 200 feet; thence East parallel with Ewing ,Avenue 164.88 feet, thence North with the West line of Michigan Street 200 feet to the place of beginning, excepting, therefrom a strip of land 20 feet in width North and South taken off of and -from the entire length of the forth side thereof, heretofore tak en for the widening of Ewing Avenue And Lots numbered 1 to 6 inclusive in Stull's 6th Addition. i Notice of this resolution shall bepublished on the 31st day of January and on the 7th day of February, 1947 in the South Bend Daily Tribune an d,the Weekly Mirror. • This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 17th day of February, 1947 at 11:00 A.M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons -interested in or''affected by these proceedings. Cummings BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and ma ers,per aining to his department were discussed. This being the date set for receiving bids for materials for the Street Department, the following bids were opened and publicly read: Taylor Brothers, Gravel, as is, at the pit, and loaded by the South Bend, Indiana Street Department .25 per yard Gravel, as is, at the pit, and loaded by Taylor Brothers .50 per yeard Gravel, as is,delivered by Taylor Brothers to the Street Department or any specified place not to exceed an�';_equivalent distance (32) miles 1.40 per yard South Bend Sand & Gravel South Bend, Indiana Washed Sand - concrete or mortar .75 ton Washed rice gravel #12 .55 ton Washed gravel -concrete #5 1.,00 ton }The above bids were accepted by the Board. Bids received from Kuert Concrete Company, Standard Oil Company, Tu.ftread Roads, Ines Andresen Corporation, Taranoyl Company and E. R.'Newland Qompany were all rejected for cause and the.Clerk of ,the Board was directed to readver- tise for materials for the Street Department, with bids returnable on February 17, 1947.
