Co. 19.60 <br />• l'The Ohio Oil Co. 24.80 The Ohio Oil Co. 467.65 <br />The O-hio Oil Co. 115.00 Sinclair refining Co. 46.51 <br />I `iRAFFIC DEPAtZTrriEltiT: Mr. Ernest hiller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per- <br />taining taming to his department ���e��e discussed. <br />A communication was received from the Common Council in the form of a certified <br />copy of a resolution passed by the Council in ;which they instruct the Board of Works <br />and Safety to proceed at once and without delay with the erection of a traffic control <br />;!systems of the automatic type similar to the ones being used at other intersections over <br />11the city, at Mishawaka and Twyckenharn Drive and to have the overhead signals removed <br />;l from the intersections of LlishC_ raka Avenue and 3Oth Street; Lincoln Vday Vest and Olive <br />• Street; and `�,Iestern Avenue and Olive Street, and control lights be installed to conform <br />,,with the lights now being used in the rest of the city. This resolution was ordered <br />filed. <br />f( <br />I BLS ROUTES: Mr. 'v'Jatterson and Mr. Hahn of the -Northern Indiana Transit Company and <br />I� I."Ir. William Bertsch, Mr. George Feldman, Mr. Barry Taylor and Mr. Maurice Bailey were <br />present for a further discussion of a bus route through the Sunnymede area. A full <br />discussion was had of the various streets in question. �Ir. Feldman pointing out that <br />Sunnymede Avenue is thirty feet in width along its entire length, and 'uayne Street is <br />�33 feet in widthat its narro:irest point. The feasibility of making one way streets out <br />Hof wayne where it is intersected by a parkway was also discussed. Mr. Levy indicated <br />that East Jefferson east of Eddy Street could not be used as a bus route without direct <br />• I action by the Council. 1�1r. Miller, the traffic Engineer, pointed out that Sunnymede <br />jAvenue is widely used for parking cars during football games and other affairs at the <br />;school field and routing buses on it would create a definite traffic hazard. The Board <br />took the matter under advisement and will make their decision before the next meeting. <br />�I <br />A letter was received from the 14orthern Indiana Transit Company indicating that the <br />had made a careful check of conditions outlined in a petition for better service on the <br />Fellows Street bus route. The letter states in part,' ...selecting Thursday, December <br />.13 and Friday, December 14, for the passenger clieck, During this time we found that on <br />two trips in the afternoon of the 14th, eight passengers were left standing at curb <br />!by one bus and seven passengers were left by another bus. Thursday and Friday are our <br />11 heaviest days of the weelk and for that reason vre selected these two days. IN <br />��e 6re <br />• attempting to divide our equipment on as nearly an equal basis as poss.l.ble during the <br />heavy holiday traffic, and every week day every available bus is being operated.
