r- <br />224 <br />Vacation Resolution No. 2539 <br />i This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by th <br />Board of Public Works for the vacation of the first alley North of Randolph Street from <br />Marine Street to the East line of the alley West of Tv7arine Street, under Vacation Resol- <br />ution No. 2539. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication <br />and no remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with <br />the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be <br />finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed <br />to prepare an assessment roll covering the assessments of benefits and the awards of <br />damages to the surrounding properties. <br />Mr. Clyde E. Williams, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the <br />awards of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of <br />the first alley North of Randolph Street from Darine Street to the East line of the <br />alley West of Marine Street under Vacation Resolution No. 2539. <br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet at <br />11:00 A.M. in the City Hall on the 12th day of November, 1945, for the purpose of hear- <br />ing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said va- <br />cation, and the Board further orders that notice`of said hearing, together with the <br />amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners <br />by publishing same on the 26th day of October and on the 2nd day of hTovember, 1945 in th <br />South Bend Daily Tribune and the :Meekly Mirror. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and matters <br />j pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />11r. Balka turned over to the Board, $15.00 received for flushing a house tap. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:00 A.M. <br />October 29, 1945 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public ':forks was held on Monday, October 29, 1945 ij <br />at 9:00 A.M. all members were present. alinutes of the last meeting were read and j <br />approved. Salary claims in the amount of $12,090.40 were approved and ordered paid. <br />Claims of the following suppliers in the araount of $306.12 were approved and ordered paid: <br />Business Systems $ 1.72 B. & S. (Trans.) <br />105.00 <br />The i�icCaffery Co. <br />5.29 <br />Business Systems <br />6.49 <br />GARBAGE DEPART1.11ENT: This being the date set for receiving bids for the collection and <br />disposal of garbage within the City of South Bend, and only one bid having been received <br />it was opened and read as follows: <br />Frank Palmer, Jr. Certified check for $500.00 Contract price for one <br />South Bend, Indiana Non -Collusion affadavit year �591951.14 <br />The bid contained a paragraph explaining the bidders understanding of three paragraphs <br />in the specifications. The Board took the matter under advisement and will award or <br />reject the bid at a later date. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's bonds in the amount of 4p1,000.00 were approved for;, <br />Robert H. Drover and Seymour Jansen. These were ordered filed. <br />This being the date set the Board now meets to hear all persons interested or whose <br />.property is affected by the proposed construction of local sewers on Fisher Street from <br />Kiley to Meade Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2540; proposed construction of <br />la local sewer on Arnold Street between Donald Street and Ewing Avenue and Donald Street <br />sewer from Donald Street to Oliver Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2541; pro - <br />.posed construction of a local sewer on Douglas Street between Donald Street and Ewing <br />Avenue and Donald Street sewer from Kemble Avenue to Douglas Street under Improvement <br />Resolution No. 2542; proposed construction of a local sewer on Oliver Street from Donaldi; <br />Street to Ewing Avenue and Donald Street sewer from. Oliver Street to Douglas Street under <br />Improvement Resolution No. 2543. After hearing all persons interested who appeared and <br />'being fully advised in the premises2 the Board decides that the benefits to the property;' <br />liable to be assessed for the said sewersare equal to the estimated costs of same as <br />reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action upon said resolu- <br />tions as originally adopted, and now confirms each and every one of same. <br />Adopted this 29th day of October, 1945.
