i- 224 Vacation Resolution No. 2539 This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by th Board of Public Norks for the vacation of the first alley North of Randolph Street from Marine Street to the East line of the alley idlest of Marine Street, under Vacation Resol- ution No. 2539. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to prepare an assessment roll covering the assessments of benefits and the awards of damages to the surrounding properties. Mr. Clyde E. 914illiams, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the awards of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the first alley North of Randolph Street from ziarine Street to the East line of the alley 'detest of Marine Street under Vacation Resolution No. 2539. In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet at 11:00 A.M. in the City Hall on the 12th day of November, 1945, for the purpose of hear- ing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said va- cation, and the Board further orders that notice"of said hearing, together with the amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishing same on the 26th day of October and on the 2nd day of November, 1945 in t South Bend Daily Tribune and the lNeekly Mirror. STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. Mr. Balka turned over to the Board, $15.00 received for flushing a house tap. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjour at 11:00 A.M. October 29, 1945 A regular meeting of the Board of Public rdorks was held on Monday, October 29, 1945 at 9:00 A.M. all members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Salary claims in the amount of $12,090.40 were approved and ordered paid. Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $306.12 were approved and ordered pair Business Systems 1.72 B. & S. (Trans.) 105.00 The iMcCaffery Co. 5.29 Business Systems 6.49 GARBAGE DEPARTMENT: This being the date set for receiving bids for the collection and disposal of garbage within the City of South Bend, and only one bid having been received it was opened and read as follows: Frank Palmer, Jr. South Bend, Indiana Certified check for $500.00 Contract price for one Non -Collusion affadavit year $59,951.14 The bid contained a paragraph explaining the bidders understanding of three paragraphs j in the specifications. The Board took the matter under advisement and will award or reject the bid at a later date. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's bonds in the amount of 4p1,000.00 were approved for Robert H. Drover and Seymour Jansen. These were ordered filed. This being the date set the Board now meets to hear all persons interested or whose, ;property is affected by the proposed construction of local sewers on Fisher Street from 'Kerley to Meade Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2540; proposed construction of ,la local sewer on Arnold Street between Donald Street and Ewing Avenue and Donald Street sewer from Donald Street to Oliver Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2541; pro- posed construction of a local sewer on Douglas Street between Donald Street and Ewing Avenue and Donald Street sewer from Kemble Avenue to Douglas Street under Improvement Resolution No. 2542; proposed construction of a local sewer on Oliver Street from Donald;'; Street to Ewing Avenue and Donald Street sewer from Oliver Street to Douglas Street under; Improvement Resolution No. 2543. After hearing all persons interested who appeared and ,being fully advised in the premises, the .Board decides that the benefits to the property,! liable to be assessed for the said sewersare equal to the estimated costs of same as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action upon said resolu- tions as originally adopted, and now confirms each and every one of same. ,Adopted this 29th day of October, 1945.
