215 <br />SPECIAL MEETING September 8, 1945 <br />A special meeting of the Board o.f Public Works was held on Saturday, September 8 <br />1945 at 10:OO A.M. All.members were present. <br />The Board received from the Mayor the report of the post-war planning committee <br />concerning the construction of a sewage disposal plant for the city of South Bend. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 11:30 A.M. /j , <br />II <br />!� ATT <br />�I <br />Ii Clerk <br />September 10, 1945 <br />A regular meeting fo the Board of Public Sorks was held on Monday, <br />September 10, <br />Ij1945 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. Cummings <br />!approved. Co. <br />11.68 <br />Kuert Concrete Company <br />16.65 <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters perta: <br />ing to his department were discussed. <br />iI ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A petition was received asking for the installation of a sewer <br />on South Douglas Street between West Donald and West Ewing Streets. Also for a sewer on <br />Arnold Street between West Donald and West Ewing streets. These were approved by the <br />Board. <br />An ordinance was presented by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company to be given <br />j� to the common Council for approval,•concerning flasher lights at the intersection of the <br />City -streets and the Grand Trunk railroad crossings. They have been manually operated <br />II by the railroad company, but th'e company wishes -to install automatic flashers signals <br />�) connected with the railroad tracks for twenty-four hour protection. This was approved <br />j� by the Board and referred to the Common Council. <br />II The "ity Plan Commission approved the vacation of the alley 'West of Marine Street <br />between Dubail and Randolph from Marine Street west to the East line of the first alley <br />i Westof Marine. This was referred -to the Engineering department for preparation of a <br />vacation resolution. <br />• I! A letter was received from Councilman John M. McCarthy informing the Board that <br />excavations in the street have not been <br />a properly backfilled. The Board referred the <br />matter to Mr. Williams for investigation and report. <br />i <br />Contractor's bonds in the amount of $1000.00 each were approved for John C. VonBerg <br />Louis Alhouse, and Charles E. Emmons. These were ordered filed. Excavation bonds in <br />the amount of $5,000.00 were approved for the Goheen Plumbing Company and the Northern <br />i Indiana Public Service Company. These were ordered filed. <br />I <br />
