196 <br />March 26, 1945 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, March 26, 1945 at <br />9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Salary claims in the amount of $9,123.92 were approved and ordered paid. Balka (Trans.) - 12.50 <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTDILTT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />A group of representatives of various trucking companies together with the President, <br />of the Teamsters Union, came before the Board to discuss the ordinance regulating truck <br />routes in the City of South Bend. Those present were Mr. Maurice Tucker, Tucker Freight <br />Lines, Mr. N. J. Partritz, Office of Defense Transportation, Mr. John -Douglass, Rainbo <br />Express, Inc., Mr. Claude Jones, Clemans Truck lines, Gerald Land, Commercial Freight <br />Lines, George Page, E.E. Mills Trucking Company, Leo Bauer, Teamsters Union, Clifford <br />McColl.ey, Tucker Freight Lines and Mr. Walter Biggs, President of the `teamsters Union. <br />After a full discussion of the truck routes, Mr. Williams suggested that the Union Repre-I <br />sentatives together with some members of the Trucking Companies hold a meeting with the <br />Traffic Engineer and the Police Chief to work out a solution to their problems. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr, Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining <br />to his department w ere discussed. <br />tThere being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 12.00 Noon. --2 - <br />April 2, 1945 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public "Torks was held on blonday, April 2, 1945 <br />at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. This was reverr=ed to the Engineering Department. <br />A contractor t s bond was approved for Stanley J. 'Nachowiak and was ordered filed ands <br />an Excavation bond was approved for Charles E.
