<br />Be it resolved by the Southwest property owners association that the President of I'
<br />this Association,, acting as a committee of one, with such assistants as he may deem desi.-L"L
<br />able, shall present to the Board of Puboic 'ork_s and Safety of the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, the consensus of this Association expressed in this reolution, and take such
<br />other steps as may be deemed needful to bring to realization the project hereby. endorsed,11i. e. :
<br />1. To create, open and place to the service of t_le public Calvert Street from
<br />Kemble Street to Prairie Avenue. •
<br />2. Douglas Street from Bruce, carried South to Donald Street.
<br />3. Gliver Street from Bruce Street South to Donald Street.
<br />4. 'IVebster Street from Bruce Street South to Donald Street,
<br />BE IT FTJRTIIiJ`R RESOLVED: That the public need for such opening and rendering the j
<br />same available to public use is very evident, because:
<br />(a) It will alleviate traffic congestion on Indiana, Prairie and Kemble Avenues
<br />due to extre_nely heavy traffic tereover incident to the industrial plants making use
<br />thereof as outlets,
<br />(b) Render readier and more conveniently available the park facilities to the
<br />public resident in the section. j!
<br />(c) '_`+Lake accessible for drainage and sanitary facilities said streets when opened
<br />to improve such. conditions in the community. ! •
<br />BE IT FURTiER RESOLVED: that this association is pled;med to give the President all i.
<br />aid in pressing the purpose of this resolution to ultimate success.

<br />With reference to your letter of September 5, 1944, regarding a vetition received from ,
<br />the residents living in the vicinity of Calvert and Kimble Avenue, please be advised that
<br />this authority is at the present time preparing dedication for the North one-half (N- )
<br />of Donald Street from Kimble Avenue to 'lebster Street and for the East one-half (E2) of !(
<br />"rebster Street from Donald Street to Bruce Street, these being the two perimeter streets)
<br />not fullJT dedicated at this time. •
<br />In regard to the streets within the interior of this project this authority does
<br />not feel that this is the proper time to dedic#te these streets. The future planning ofl
<br />this development has not as yet reached a stage whereby we can be certain as to what
<br />
