r� <br />1 7 0 <br />MEETING - AUGUST 28, 1944 <br />A regular, meeting of the Board of Zublic Norks was held on Monday, August 29, 1944 <br />at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. Salary claims in the amount of S11.,570.62 were approved and ordered paid. <br />Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of w6,576.40 were approved and ordered <br />paid: <br />C. F. Balka (Trans.) 12.50 Ernest H. Miller (Trans.) $ 20.00 <br />Transportation, Building Dept. 87.50 Oden Robertson & Julius Stevens <br />Ernest O. Nelson (Trans.) 20.00 6,436.40 <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />EIECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: Mr. Iffilliam Qualls, Superintendent, was present and matters per- <br />taining to his department were discussed. <br />A request from Councilman Korpal to investigate the need for a street light in,the 1 <br />2700 block of 'Jest Bonds Avenuewas referred to I,'Ir. Qualls for investigation and report.; <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />ENGINEERING- DEPARTMENT: A contractor's bond in the amount of $1,000.00 was approved <br />for Whitcomb elder, Inc., and was ordered filed. <br />The following letter was received and was ordered filed: <br />August 25, 1944 <br />Board of Public ITrorks, <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen:. <br />This is to advise that 0. R. Robertson has completed his contract, in accord- <br />ance with Plans and Specifications, for the Underpinning the East Arch of Jefferson <br />Boulevard Bridge. <br />I inspected the work as it progressed and made a final inspection after the <br />work was completed. All the materials used were first class and the workmanship is <br />very good, therefore, I recommend that he be paid the full contract price. <br />WSM :m <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />(s) 71m.
