<br />The :Board received carbon copies of two letters written to tha Keith -Riley Construction
<br />Company of Goshen, Indiana, one directing them to proceed irz;�ediately with the construe-!
<br />Lion of the Chippewa Avenue access, road signed by, 11r. Vili.iams, and one stating that duel
<br />to the,. inability' to obtain. tar for prune on the Chippewa ;:Avenue project, Ind. 12-137,
<br />the Reith-Riley Company is authorized to use cut pack asphalt, applied in two applica- 1'
<br />tions,, using extreme care to, see that the soil ce ient is thoroughly cleaned before the !i
<br />first application. The change to cut back asphalt shall not incur any additional ex-
<br />pense to the City or to the,Federal -Works Agency., This letter was signed by 71m. S.

<br />This being the date set, hearing was held on, the assessment roll_ showing the
<br />award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the
<br />alley south of Huron Street from Lake Street to the Alley *V'aest of Lake Street and
<br />including a 5 foot out off on the Northwest corner of Lot. �63 and from the''Vest line
<br />of the alley west of Lake Street to Falcon Street and including a 5 foot cut off on the
<br />Northeast corner of Lot #61 under vacation resolution No. 2527.
<br />In the above assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances
<br />were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same
<br />were found sufficient, and the Board, being fully advised in the premises, therefore,
<br />finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been benefitted and damaged in the f;
<br />amounts sho:vn on said roll. The oard, therefore, decides to take action on said assess't
<br />ment roll, and declares s�?;�e in all thins ratified, conf firmed and approved without !,
<br />modification and the preceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon receipt of the II
<br />amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefitted, and all
<br />proceedings had with reference to said alley vacation are '_hereby sustained. j

<br />pertaining to his department were discussed.
<br />Mr. Zmudzinski informed the Board that the railroad crossings of the Pennsylvania
<br />Railroad were in bad condition, and the Clerk of the Board was directed to write to the
<br />Pennsylvania and request them to repair their crossings.
<br />Mr. Zmudzinski also informed the Board that some contractors have been making
<br />excavations in the parkway of streets and leaving them open at night without bombing
<br />and barricading them, in which instances, tiie Street Department is called to barricade
<br />the opening. The Board instructed I,,Ir. Zmudzinski-to inform the Clerk the next time'
<br />such an accurance takes place and the Clerk will send the Contractor a letter on it.
