14'7. <br />• <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic .Engineer, was present and matters pertain <br />ing to his department were discussed. <br />Mr. Miller was granted permission to be in Indianapolis, Larch 8-9-1-11 to work <br />on the down town traffic system with the :State Traffic Engineer. <br />CEMETERY DEPARTTIENT: Mr. Stanley Le-szczynski,. Sexton, presented his report for the <br />month of February, 1944. <br />,There being no further business to come befcre the Board, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 10:30 A.LI. <br />li MEETING - MARCH 13, 1944 <br />A regular meeting of the Board <br />of Public Works was held on Monday, March, 13, <br />1944 at 9:00 A.M. All members <br />were present. <br />Minutes of the last meeting <br />were; read <br />and approved. Salary claims in <br />the amount of $7,837.05 were approved and <br />ordered <br />paid. Claims of the following <br />suppliers in <br />the amount of $ 8,760.69 were <br />approved <br />and ordered paid: <br />i W. H. C,o. <br />99.07 <br />I STREET DEPARTTM�ET: Mr. Anthony <br />2nudzinski, <br />Street Commissioner, was present <br />and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: The Board approved <br />a permanent easement on a sewer through <br />iI the Studebaker Defense Plant Corporation and <br />I <br />the Studebaker Property. <br />The Board has been advised <br />Ij <br />that the Railroads <br />involved in the Meade and Arnold <br />Street Crossings have filed new <br />applications <br />with the War Production Board <br />for gates <br />and flashers at those crossings. A letter was drafted to the City :Council <br />advising <br />them of the fact. <br />The transaction having been completed in the sale of the city owned gravel pit to the <br />South Bend Sand & Gravel Corporation, the deed and abstract having been delivered to <br />the South Bend Sand & Gravel Corporation, the two checks totaling 4,000.00 from said <br />Ij South Bend Sand & Gravel Corporation were submitted to the City Controller. <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the final assessment roll of improvemeni <br />• resolution No. 2524, known as the Duey Street Sewer, for a local sewer on Duey Street <br />from South Bend Avenue, north to the north line of Hartman and Miller's Addition and <br />Hartman and I'Moodworth Addition. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written re- <br />monstrances were filed with the Clark of the Board, the Clerk gave proof that the <br />hassessment roll was published in two newspapers, and the Board, being fully advised in <br />Ithe premises, finds that.the several lots and parcels of land have been benefited in <br />the amounts whown on said assessment roll. The Board, therefore, decides to take final <br />faction on said assessment roll and declares same in all things ratified and confirmed <br />and approved without modification and the proceedin7s closed.
