123 MEETING - OCTUBER 4, 1943 • • • A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, October 4, 1943 at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read. and approved. Mr. Zmudtinski reported to the Board that the railroad crossing of the Grand Trunk ,and New Jersey Railroads at Arnold Street was badly in need of repair. This was referr to Mr. Williams. .CEMETARY DEPARTMENT:_ Mr. Sta-iley Leszczynski, Sexton, presented his report for the month of September. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00.�a.. Fund or the Interceptor Sewer Fund: Edgar Anderson - Salary $ 62.50 STREET DEPARTMENT: The Street Commissioner was authorized to provide trucks and drivers I for the scrap drive, Sunday, Gctober 17, 1943 in accordance with a request received from the Civitan Club. A petition was received from the Polish -American Civic Committee and the Polish American Improvement Committee requesting that action be taken to bring about the installation of the most modern type of safety signals at the Arnold Street Crossing' • of the New York Central and Grand Trunk Railroads. 1 The Board of Public .Yorks appointed Mr. :Clyde E. Williams to obtain -the following information : 1. The type of signal best suited for giving the best protection at said crossing. jj 2. The co-operation of the New York Cents�al and the Grand Trunk Rai1r`oads in obtaining and installing said equipment. °3. The possiblility of obtaining the type of signals and equipment during the' it present war emergency. I� °4. The development of alternative safety measures in the event types of equipment actually required can not be obtained during the war. -Mr. Nilliams is requested to report his findings to the Board one week from today.
