123 <br />MEETING - OCTUBER 4, 1943 <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, October 4, 1943 <br />at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read. and <br />approved. Lauber Co. <br />16.48 <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and <br />matters pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />Mr. Zmudtinski reported to the Board that the railroad crossing of the Grand Trunk <br />,and New Jersey Railroads at Arnold Street was badly in need of repair. Fund or the Interceptor <br />Sewer Fund: <br />Edgar Anderson - Salary $ 62.50 <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: The Street Commissioner was authorized to provide trucks and drivers <br />I for the scrap drive, Sunday, Gctober 17, 1943 in accordance with a request received <br />from the Civitan Club. <br />A petition was received from the Polish -American Civic Committee and the Polish <br />American Improvement Committee requesting that action be taken to bring about the <br />installation of the most modern type of safety signals at the Arnold Street Crossing' <br />• of the New York Central and Grand Trunk Railroads. <br />1 The Board of Public .Yorks appointed Mr. :Clyde E. Williams to obtain -the following <br />information : <br />1. The type of signal best suited for giving the best protection at said crossing. <br />jj 2. The co-operation of the New York Cents�al and the Grand Trunk Rai1r`oads in <br />obtaining and installing said equipment. <br />°3. The possiblility of obtaining the type of signals and equipment during the' <br />it present war emergency. <br />I� °4. The development of alternative safety measures in the event types of equipment <br />actually required can not be obtained during the war. <br />-Mr. Nilliams is requested to report his findings to the Board one week from today. <br />
