109 The following memo was submitted to the .board: 1ylay 18, 1943 i:1emm To - Board of Public IFYorks From - Clyde E. 'nrilliarms, City Civil Engineer • A few months ago officials of the Belleville Lumber Company appeared before the Board and requested the Board to accept certain streets in Bercliff Addition for maintenance under present conditions. The request was made because agreement with the F.H.A. requir s pavement and it is impossible at this time to obtain paving materials. • n U C7 • A recent inspection was made of the unpaved portion of Timber Lane and also Oakcrest Drive from Timber Zane to 35th Street. A profile was requested to determine if these streets have been graded to the grade established by this Board. The streets have been graded approximately to the established -~-fade, and bank run gravel has been installed approximately 20 feet in width and 6 inches in depth on or near the center line of these streets. Even though this gravel is not exactly to grade, it being as much as one foot below grad in some places, the Engineering Department recommends that it be accepted for maintenanc The remainder of the roadway section is in satisfactory condition. If and.when resur- facing material is available, it will the to bring the final grade to its proper elevation. jThis was approved by the Board and ordered filed. Mr. Perkins, one of the Trustees of the Borian Cemetary, came before the Board to request that the City take over the operation of the Cemetary. The Board took this advisement, and it was suggested that 1Ir. Perkins submit his proposal to the Board in writing, before any action be made. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10 :00 A,I. STREET DEPARTIT,IENT: L1r. Tony Zmudzinski, Street Comte issioner was present at the meeting and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. MMr. Zmudzinski turned over to the Board �')9.00 for the use of the grader and $2.00 from the sale of junk. The Board having approved the specifications for one new or used power driven street sweeper, as prepared and submitted by the Engineering Department, the Clerk is hereby authorized to advertise for bids.to be received in the office of the Board of Public ;storks and Safety until 10:00 A.1i% June 21, 1943, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. TRAFFIC ENGINEER: Mr. Ernest Miller, traffic Engineer, was present at the meeting and matters pertaining to his department were discussed.
