Two members were present, Mr. Nathan Levy being absent. Minutes of the <br />Blast meeting were read and approved. Lauber Co. <br />1.00 <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Tony Zmudzinski was present and matters pertaining to his depart- <br />ment were discussed. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Excavation bonds, in the amount of 01000.00 were received for <br />Noah Malott and Niezgodski Bros. These bonds were approved and ordered filed. <br />Contractorts bond, in the amount of $1000.00 was received for John Von Bergen. <br />This bond was approved and ordered filed. <br />ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ift. Qualls, Superintendent was present and matters pertaining <br />to his department were discussed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned t <br />10:30 A. M. <br />SPECIAL Iti2EETING -- SEPTIRIBER 41 1942 <br />A special meeting of the Board of `Sorks and Safety was held on Friday, September <br />4, 1942. All members were present. The meeting was held for the purpose of receiving <br />bids and awarding a contract for the repairing of the :vest abutmment of the Sample <br />Street bridge. <br />Bids were received from Thomas L. Hickey, Ralph Sollitt and C. A. Jordan Co. <br />The C. A. Jordan Co., <br />:the Board, was tentatively <br />';;Council. The proposal is <br />having submitted the lowest and best bid, in the opinion of <br />awarded the contract, subject to ratification of the Common <br />as follows: <br />"We propose to shore the west end of the bridge holding it securely and <br />remove the entire abutment to the present river level and relay the <br />stone using only the sound undamaged stone and then replacing the top <br />stone course with a reimforced concrete pad. We also plan to extend <br />the present storm sewer between the face of the abutment and replace <br />any sidewalk, pavement, railings and so forth that are required to <br />be removed for the execution of this work, also install three weep <br />holes through the abutment with a gravel drain bed.tt <br />There <br />10 : 30 A.
