Tony 7mudzinski was present and matters pertaining to his depart <br />ment were discussed. <br />The Board authorized the Street Commissioner to -purchase a boiler from the National <br />Mill Supply Co., at a price of $679.00, this boiler to be installed in the street de- <br />1partment offices, and to be of sufficient size to properly heat same. <br />I.Ir. Zmudzinski advised the Board that the'Street Department had closed Knoblock Road <br />and Maple Lane Road, at the north end of the airport. This was done upon instructions <br />of the Traffic Engineer, IiIr. Miller, and approved by the Board of Works. These roads <br />are to be closed during the emergency period, for better protection of the County airpor <br />and its fatalities. <br />This being the date set, bids on the repair of the Sample Street bridge wore opened <br />and publically read, and it was moved that the proposals be given to the Engineering <br />Department for tabulation and compilation as to their compliance to the advertised <br />specifications. The Engineering Department will return the bids and the a;aard will be <br />made on 'flednesday, December 24, 1941, <br />The bids are as follows,* <br />Sollitt Constr. Iliemier, of the Studebaker'Corporation., appeared <br />be�ore the Board, with the Building Commissioner, 1�1r. Dalton 11loomaw, to request a varian <br />in building being constructed for defense purposes. The variance .vas to permit three <br />wood walls in lieu of brick walls, because of the immediate need of the building. <br />The variance was allowed by the Board, because of the defense emergency, and subject <br />to the following conditions: That if, after the defence emergency, the Studebaker <br />Corporation desire to mace use of the bul_lding for their own purposes, the wood walls <br />will be removed and walls complying ,with the building code be erected. <br />Excavation bonds, in the amount of $1000.00 were received for J.
