36 <br />Mr. Zmudzinski was authorized to obtain proposals on the painting of all metal part <br />of the over -structure and under -structure of the Hydraulic Avenue bridge. <br />Mr. Zmudzinski was authorized to sell thirty pieces of rail, 10 fbtt long at $25.00 <br />per ton, to the LaPlatte Co. of Chicago, Ill. <br />ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: A petition was received, asking that the alley between Carlisle <br />and Phillip St. north of Ford St., be vacated. This petition was turned over to the <br />Engineering Department. <br />A petition was received asking that William Thompson of #1738 E. Calvert St., be <br />compelled to remove the rubbish and other trash matter from his front yard. This <br />petition was referred to Joseph Roper, Assistant City Attorney. <br />This being the date set for the hearing on the resolution heretofore adopted by the <br />Board, for the vacation of the first alley west of Franklin Street, from Indiana Avenue, <br />to the alley north of Indiana Avenue, and the hearing on said resolution having been set <br />for 10:00 A. T.;., on the 3rd day of November, 1941, and publication having been made in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the South Bend Mirror, on the loth day of October and the <br />7th day of October, 1941, respectively, and being now 10:30 A.Tl. on the 3rd day of <br />November, and no one having appeared in opposition to said resolution, it was moved, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, that resolution #2509 vacating said alley be finally <br />adopted and said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to prepare <br />an assessment roll covering the benefits and damages to the surrounding property. <br />This being the date set for the hearing on the resolution heretofore adopted by the <br />Board, for the vacation of the alley north of Bowman Street from Main Street to the Nest <br />line of the alley east of Fain Street, and the hearing on said resolution having been se <br />for 10:00 A. M. on the 3rd day of November, 1941, and publication having been made in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the South Bend Mirror, on the 10th day of October and the <br />17th day of October, 1941, respectively, and being now 10:30 A. 14. on the 3rd day of <br />November, and no one having appeared in opposition to said resolution, it was moved, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, that resolution #2510 vacating said alley be finally <br />adopted and said alley be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to prepare <br />an assessment roll covering the benefits and damages to the surrounding property. <br />Contractorts bonds, in the amount of $1000.00 each were received for Carl J. Reinke <br />and E. F. Cramer. These bonds were approved and ordered filed. <br />ELECTRIC DEPARTT,.ENT: T,Ir. 74m. Qualls, Superintendent was present and matters pertaining <br />to his department were discussed. <br />CEI4RETERY: Lisle McNabb, Secton, was present and matters pertaining to his department <br />were discussed. <br />A letter was received from the Common Council, which had been sent to them by <br />Mrs. Crosby Cauffman. This letter was ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned <br />at 10:30 A.
