Mayor Buttigieg stated, I
appreciate the invitation to join and give a little bit of an update on what we know when it comes
to the restoration of quiet zones, when it comes to railroad crossings in parts of South Bend. As I
found out when I woke up this morning, the quiet zones have not yet been reestablished, and this
is a major quality of life issue for those who live close to those crossings where the trains are
sounding their horns. The state of play right now is that we are effectively waiting by the phone,
hoping to hear from the Federal Rail Administration that they have made the approval official.
1
