Jefferson Blvd. CITY CLERK,SOUTH SEND, IN <br /> South Bend, IN 46601 <br /> Re: Ordinance Levying taxes and fixing the rate of Property Taxation to meet City Expenses <br /> for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2018 <br /> Dear Council President Scott: <br /> Attached herewith please find a bill for consideration by the Common Council of the City of <br /> South Bend fixing the property tax rate for the City of South Bend for the fiscal year <br /> commencing January 1, 2018 and ending December 31, 2018. This tax rate will apply for <br /> property tax assessments in fiscal 2017 with taxes payable in fiscal 2018. <br /> Similar to prior years, this bill has been filed with estimated property tax rates. The final <br /> property tax rates for each municipality in the State of Indiana are determined by the <br /> Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) as part of the "1782" budget review process <br /> which, according to the state budget calendar, must be completed in February, 2017. The actual <br /> property tax rates will depend on the 2017/pay 2018 net assessed valuation of property in South <br /> Bend. <br /> This bill is respectfully submitted for 1St reading filing with the Common Council for the council <br /> meeting on August 28, 2017, 2nd reading and public hearing at the council meeting on <br /> September 25, 2017, with 3rd reading and council vote at the council meeting on October 9, <br /> 2017. <br /> 1 will be available to discuss this bill at the appropriate sessions of the Personnel and Finance <br /> Committee and other meetings of the South Bend Common Council. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Jennifer C.
