�SpLITH e� <br /> O O y <br /> PEACE <br /> SPECIAL PROCLAMATION NO. 5-2017 mkzk , <br /> A SPECIAL PROCLAMATION AWARDED BY SOUTH BEND 6TH DISTRICT COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> OLIVER DAVIS HONORING & CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF MAXINE VIVIAN PRICE <br /> Gh" Maxine Vivian Price entered in to eternal rest at the home of her niece, Jacquelynn Gaines in <br /> Decatur, Georgia on March 16,2017. Maxine was born April 2, 1922 in Richmond, Indiana to Oliver James Scott <br /> and Marie Elizabeth (Ewing) Scott. <br /> Maxine moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1941 along with her parents and siblings where they resided on <br /> Talbot Street for many years. She later married Hugh Gene Price on February 9, 1952 and remained happily <br /> married to him until his death on November 13, 1997. Although there were no children born of this union she <br /> found herself being mother to many of her nieces, nephews and neighborhood children; and <br /> Oh" at the age of 19 Maxine went to work for the family of Mr. & Mrs. Phillip H. Welber, owner <br /> of Robertson Department Store. During her employment with the family she was there to assist with the raising <br /> and upbringing of their three children: Susan,Michael, and Barbara. Maxine was employed with the Welbers for <br /> 64 years and didn't retire until the death of Mrs. Welber; and <br /> 6� Maxine was an excellent seamstress and along with her mother, had a small catering business <br /> in South Bend. In her early days as a young adult she enjoyed riding on the back of Gene's motorcycle and <br /> attending races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She was an avid University of Notre Dame Fan,plus season <br /> ticket holder during football season for over 50 years.Maxine also enjoyed traveling,golfing,bowling and playing <br /> cards. She had a flair for Oriental decor which could be found throughout her home; and <br /> (A;ead, Maxine is survived by her sister and last remaining sibling, Marilouise (Albert) Hill of <br /> Pinkerton, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Laura Scott; and brother-in-law, George "Jack" Woolridge Jr. of South <br /> Bend; nieces: Jacquelynn Gaines of Decatur, Georgia, Sylvia Kay (Warner) Haynes of Chicago, Illinois, <br /> Yolande Gaines of Memphis, Tennessee, Toni (Larry) Johnson of South Bend, Indiana, Kelli (Tony) Johnson of <br /> Plainfield, Illinois, Alicia Hill of Columbus, Ohio,nephews: Raymond Gaines of Chattanooga, Tennessee, <br /> Kevin(Jodi) Woolridge of Commerce Township, Michigan, Paul (Michele) Hill of San Antonio, Texas,Alan <br /> (Kristin) Hill of Columbus, Ohio, Donald Smothers of Houston, Texas, Ronald Herron, Mark Herron, Eric <br /> Woolridge, Richard Scott Jr. and Larry (Susie) Smothers all of South Bend, Indiana. She is also survived by a <br /> host of great nieces and nephews; and spiritual friend, Juella Smith-Butts. <br /> She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Gene Price;parents Oliver and Marie (Ewing) Scott; <br /> three brothers: Oliver Scott Jr., James D. Scott, and Richard E. Scott; three sisters: Geraldine Coker, Christyne <br /> Woolridge and 011ie Mae Scott; sisters-in-law Genevieve Scott, Madeline Smothers; a niece, Ann Grayson; and <br /> nephew, James Scott. <br /> 0m, <br /> 8'LOX&r& ate: <br /> Section I. On behalf of the citizens of the City of South Bend,Indiana,and as an elected Council Member <br /> for the 6th District & Vice President of the South Bend Common Council, I am pleased to publicly honor and to <br /> celebrate the life of Mrs. Maxine Vivian Price who truly blessed our lives with her grace, beauty, and wisdom. <br /> We cherish the word of Kelly Flannery who said, "the loss of a mother can never be replaced, but the love of a <br /> mother can never be lost; and <br /> Section II.
