MEMORANDUM
TO: Members of The Common Council
FROM: Henry Sucher, Executive Director
South Bend Redevelopment Department
DATE: March 22, 1962
SUBJECT: LaSalle Park General Neighborhood Renewal
Plan Application
The resolution you are being asked to pass Monday night authorizes
the Redevelopment Commission to apply for a federal advance of
funds to make plans for the renewal of the entire LaSalle Park
Neighborhood.
After such a plan is prepared and approved by both you and the
Urban Renewal Administration, the first of two (or possibly three)
individual projects, each involving new construction, rehabilitation
and some clearance, will be undertaken. The advance plus interest
is repayable to the federal government out of funds used to finance
the first project, consisting of one-third City and two-thirds
federal money.
I hope to attend the meeting to answer any questions you may want
to ask.
Henry S the r
HS:iu
