R E S O L U T I O N <br /> WHEREAS, JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY, the President of the <br /> United States, died in the City of Dallas, Texas, on November 22, <br /> 1963, at the hand of an assassin; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br /> are grieved and disturbed at the great loss to our community, to our <br /> Country, to the world and to the family; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the residents of the City of South Bend have <br /> joined and desire to continue to join all peoples in paying tribute <br /> to this great American and to this great man of our world; and, <br /> WHEREAS, JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY has been the beacon of <br /> light in these troubled times in this world of ours and through <br /> him a cold war was turned into peace and unemployment and poverty <br /> were turned into prosperity and through him all people were considered <br /> and recognized as human beings. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, express our deep sorrow and the sorrow of our community <br /> at the loss of this great human being and we recognize that his past <br /> has been short but his doings during this past will make our future <br /> brighter for our world. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER that this Council go on record as <br /> pledging its cooperation to the President of the United States LYNDON <br /> BAINES JOHNSON, and we hope and pray that with all America working <br /> together PRESIDENT LYNDON BAINES JOHNSON will carry on the great works <br /> of JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY. <br /> DATED THIS 25th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1963. <br />
