i. _ _ (HEALTH AND PUBLIC SAFETY 11-23-09 <br />Ann Puzzello, Vice-Chairperson, Health and Public Safety Committee called the meeting <br />to order at 3:15 p.m. <br />Committee Members Present: Henry L. Davis, Jr., Ann Puzzello, Timothy Rouse, <br />Valerie Schey, Citizen Member <br />Other Councilmember's Present: David Varner, Tom LaFountain, Oliver Davis <br />Other's Present: Martha Lewis; Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Rita Kopala, Chief <br />Buchanon, Gregg Zientara, Mayor Luecke, Mark Nowicki, Jeff Parrott, Gary Gilot, Jerry <br />Niezgodski, John Cortier <br />Agenda: Bill No. 87-09 -Appropriation -Emergency Driving Simulators <br />Vice-Chairperson Puzzello called upon Assistant Fire Chief Nowicki to make a <br />presentation of the appropriation request. Chief Nowicki said the SBFD had received <br />grants from FEMA and DHS allowing the department to purchase two (2) emergency <br />driving simulators. Of the $450,000 cost, the federal government would pay 80% or <br />$360,000 if the city would cover 20% or $90,000. (See attachment) Oliver Davis asked <br />if surrounding departments would have access to the units. Chief Nowicki said a training <br />fee schedule would be devised at a rate to cover costs. Valerie Schey asked for more <br />clarification as to who could get training. Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand <br />sought assurances the fees be returned to and accounted for in fund #288. There being no <br />further questions, Councilmember Rouse motioned the bill go to Council favorably. <br />Councilmember Henry Davis seconded and all affirmed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time Vice- <br />Chairperson Puzzello adjourned the meeting at 3:34 p.m. <br />Res ectfully S bmitted, <br />Puzzello, Vice-C airperson <br />Health and Public Safety <br />
