_ ~,,
" ;
,_a ~+~ ;r
~r ~~,
PARCS NOVEMBER 23, 2009
Ann Puzzello, Chairperson, PARCS Committee called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m.
Committee Members Present: Oliver Davis, Tim Rouse, Al "Buddy" Kirsits
Other Councilmember's Present: Henry Davis, Jr., David Varner
Other's Present: Tom Price, Gary Gilot, Todd Zeiger, Jerry Niezgodski
Agenda: Update Coveleski Park -Bill Schalliol
Chairperson Ann Puzzello explained the purpose of the PARCS Committee meeting was
simply an opportunity for the Council to get an update from the administration on plans
for the Coveleski area. The Mayor started the presentation stating the overall intent of
the plan was to enhance the stadium facility, create connectivity to the downtown core,
create economic development opportunities and develop a neighborhood around the
stadium campus. Bill Schalliol took the ball and proceeded to run through a slide
presentation called "Coveleski Park Neighborhood Plan." He said the same presentation
had been made to and subsequently Ok'd by the Park Board and Redevelopment
Commission. During the Council portion Councilmember Henry Davis asked about job
creation attributed to the project. Councilmember Oliver Davis asked if the stadium re-
design would accommodate alternative uses. Councilmember Rouse suggested the ethnic
festival could be resurrected on site. Councilmember Henry Davis asked if there was a
schedule to implement the plan. He also asked if there was an overall realistic plan for
the economic revitalization of the Central Business District. All the questions were
answered only in a vague sense. The Coveleski Plan is attached.
There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time, Chairperson
Puzzello adjourned the meeting at 5:07 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Arm Puzzello, Chairperson
PARCS Committee
