RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br /> APPROVING GENERAL NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL PLAN <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as <br /> amended, the City of South Bend Department of Redevelopment (herein called the <br /> "Local Public Agency") has entered into a contract, designated Contract No. Ind. <br /> R-41(GN)(A) with the Federal Government pursuant to which the Government has <br /> made available to the Local Public Agency financial assistance for the preparation <br /> of a General Neighborhood Renewal Plan for the urban renewal area designated as <br /> the LaSalle Park Area in the City of South Bend, State of Indiana (herein called the <br /> "Locality"); and <br /> WHEREAS the Local Public Agency proposes to undertake with Federal financial <br /> assistance one or more urban renewal projects in the above-described urban re- <br /> newal area; and <br /> WHEREAS there has been prepared and referred to the Common Council of the City <br /> of South Bend, Indiana (herein called the "Governing Body") for review and approval <br /> a General Neighborhood Renewal Plan for the urban renewal area, dated August 14, <br /> 1964, entitled "General Neighborhood Renewal Plan for the LaSalle Park Area" and <br /> consisting of 18 pages and 9 exhibits; and <br /> WHEREAS said General Neighborhood Renewal Plan has been approved by the gov- <br /> erning body of the Local Public Agency, as evidenced by the copy of said body's <br /> duly certified resolution approving said General Neighborhood Renewal Plan which <br /> is attached thereto; and <br /> WHEREAS there have also been presented to the Governing Body certain supplemen- <br /> tary data, including data respecting estimated grant-in-aid requirements, relocation <br /> requirements and resources, and governmental actions required to carry out said <br /> General Neighborhood Renewal Plan; and <br /> WHEREAS a general plan is in existence and is recognized and used as a guide for <br /> the general development of the Locality as a whole; and, also there has been pre- <br /> sented to the Housing and Home Finance Administrator, and said Administrator <br /> has approved, a Program for Community Improvement (Workable Program) for <br /> the community; and <br /> WHEREAS the City of South Bend Plan Commission which is the duly designated and <br /> acting official planning body for the Locality, has reported to the Governing Body <br /> respecting the conformity of said General Neighborhood Renewal Plan to the general <br /> plan for the Locality as a whole: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South <br /> Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br /> 1� That the General Neighborhood Renewal Plan for the area aforementioned, <br /> having been duly reviewed and considered, is hereby approved; that it is <br /> determined to be adequate as an outline of the urban renewal activities <br /> proposed for the area involved, as a framework for the preparation of urban <br /> renewal plans, and as an indication generally, to the extent feasible in pre- <br /> liminary planning, of land uses, population density, building coverage, pros- <br /> pective requirements for the conservation and rehabilitation of property, and <br /> any portions of the area contemplated for clearance and redevelopment, and <br /> that the Executive Director of the Department of Redevelopment be and is <br /> hereby directed to file said copy of the General Neighborhood Renewal Plan <br /> with the minutes of this meeting. <br /> -1- <br /> GN 304 <br />
