r RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH NEND, IMIANA, APPROVING THE UNDERTAXING OF SURVEYS AND PLANS rat AN URBAN tuvAAL PROJECT AND THE rruw Of AN APPLICkTION. WHEREAS, under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as emended (herein referred to as "Title I") , the Housing and Home Finance Administrator is authorised to extend financial assistance to local public agencies in the elimination and prevention of the spread of their slums ani urban blight through the planning and undertaking of urban renewal projects; and WKIRZkS it is desirable and in the public interest that the City of South fend, Department of Redevelopment wake surveys and prepare plans, presently estimated to cost approximately dollars v R/. ) , in order to undertake and carry out an urban renewal ro pect of the -cter contemplated by Section 110(c) of the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, which is described as follows: Begiming at a point which is the intersection of the north line of LaSalle Street and the west line of Main Street; thence eastarly along the north line of LaSalle Street to the west bank of the St. Joseph River; thence southeasterly along the west bank of the St. Joseph River to the south line of Jefferson Boulevard; thence westerly along the south line of Jefferson Boulevard to the east line of St. Joseph Street; thence awtherly along the east line of St. Joseph Street to the south line of Monroe Street extended; thence westerly along the south line of Monroe Street to the west line of Main Street extended; thence northerly along the west line of Main Street to the south line oZ Western Avanus; thence westerly along the south line of Western Avenue to the west alley lice of the first alley west of Lafayette Boulevard; thence northerly along said alley extended to the north line of Washington Street; thence easterly along the north line of Washingtom Street to the west line of Main Street; and thence northerly along the vast line of Main Street to the point of beginning. That the proposed Urban Renewal Area described above is a alms, 1613sLted, detorioeetod, or deterioreting area ytropriate for an urbn renewal project and that the undertaking by the City of South Bend, De- partment of Redevelopment surveys and plans for an urban renewal project of the character contemplated by Section 110(c) of Title I in the proposed j Urban Renewal Area in hereby Approved. 2. That the financial assistance available under Title I is needed to enable the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment to finance the planning and undertaking of the proposed Project. 3. That it is cognisant of the eanditlens that are imposed in the undertaking and carrying out of urban renewal projects with Federal finan- cial assistance under.
