t
CITY COURT OF SOUTH BEND
CITY HALL
SOUTH FEND, INDIANA 46601
GEORGE E. HERENDEEN October 3, 1968
JUDGE (dictated 10-2-68)
NEAL L. HANS
PROBATION OFFICER
FRANK E. JANKOWSKI
BAILIFF
Mr. James Bickel
City Controller
City Hall
South Bend, Indiana 46601
Dear Mr. Bickel:
Please accept this communication as a request for a transfer of
certain funds in the budget of the Office of the City Judge.
It is my desire that you transfer $250.00 from E-213 (Traveling
Expenses) to E-215 (Transportation Allowance).
The reason for this transfer is to have sufficient money with
which to pay the Bailiff and the Probation Officer for mileage.
The fund (E-215) was short this year because of the tremendous
number of miles driven in the first six months of this year
while the Court was clearing its docket. In setting the great
number of cases per day for trial, it was required that many
subpoenas be served and miles traveled to obtain witnesses.
I request that you arrange to have this request included in the
business of the City Council at the earliest possible date.
Very truly yours,
George E. Herendeen
Judge, South Bend City Court
GEH/jms
