RESOLUTION N0, 208-69 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATION <br /> WITH THE STATE OF INDIANA FOR A GRANT UNDER <br /> CHAPTER 298, ACTS OF THE 1967 INDIANA GENERAL <br /> ASSEMBLY. <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 298, Acts of the 1967 Indiana General Assembly <br /> and the Federal Water Pollution Control Act provide financial aid <br /> for the construction of sewage treatment works; and <br /> WHEREAS, South Bend, Indiana, herein called the Municipality, <br /> has plans for a municipal water pollution control project generally <br /> described as: <br /> Improvements to existing chlorine contact tank, chlorination <br /> equipment, final chlorine tank and outfall, two new final tanks and <br /> improvements to three existing final tanks, aeration tanks and <br /> equipment, gallery building and equipment, degritting and sludge <br /> thickening, improvements to digestors, miscellaneous items such as <br /> sludge preheaters, drainage improvements to existing final tanks, <br /> finish effluent pumping station, main for plant cooling water and <br /> other uses, extension to existing grit building, new metering equip- <br /> ment in raw and digested sludge lines, mechanized trash racks, <br /> enclosure of structures over scum burner, chemical feeding equipment, <br /> flocculators and other improvements necessary for phosphate removal; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: <br /> 1. That the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, be author- <br /> ized to make application for a State grant and provide the Stream <br /> Pollution Control Board such information, data, and documents pertain- <br /> ing to the application for a grant as may be required, and otherwise <br /> act as the authorized representative of the Municipality in connection <br /> with said application. <br /> 2. That the Municipality agrees that if a Federal grant and <br /> State assistance for the Project are provided pursuant to Section 8 <br /> of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as amended (33 U.S.C. <br /> 446 et seq.) , and Chapter 298, Acts of 1967 Indiana General Assembly, <br /> the City of South Bend, Indiana, will pay the remaining costs of the <br /> approved construction. <br /> 3. That all statements, data, and supporting documents made or <br /> submitted by the Municipality in connection with any application for <br /> Federal assistance for the proposed construction are to be deemed a <br /> part of the application for State assistance. <br />
