Additional scattered public housing units will be built, . <br /> utilizing the HOPLIF approach. The Housing Authority has secured financial com- <br /> mitment for several hundred units to be build over the next two years. The Greater <br /> South Bend Housing Corporation has expressed interest in expanding rent supplement <br /> projects (236) and 221 (h) rehabilitation housing. <br /> i <br /> 4. Describe the steps taken and the accomplishments made during the last period with respect to expanding, <br /> the supply of housing for low- and moderate-income families. <br /> Several important programs moved from the planning stage to the execution p:,ase, <br /> resulting in an additional supply of housing for the low and moderate income <br /> families. These programs included 150 units of rent supplement housing provided I <br /> by the Greater South Bend Housing Corporation and 150 like kind of units provided <br /> by a Limited Dividend Corporation. The City also has expanded the supply of <br /> public housing units by securing an additional 100 units of Section 23, Leased <br /> Housing, and the construction of 186 units of public housing for the elderly. <br /> The Public Housing Authority is also adding to the supply of housing for the <br /> low income through the Turnkey (3) Program (HOPLIF) . Identify the public agency or official responsible for overall direction in formulating and implementing the <br /> housing program, and describe the relationship of such agency or official to the chief executive of the <br /> community. <br /> } <br /> l4 Presently, several public agencies are engaged in formulating housing programs <br /> on a collaborated effort. These agencies include The Housing Authority, the <br /> Greater South Bend Housing Corporation, the Redevelopment Commission, and the <br /> Area Plan Commission. These agencies are governed by Commissions, which report <br /> to the Mayor of the City of South Bend. Implementation of local public housing <br /> programs is the responsibility of the Pub.Housing Authority.
