{ + f RESOLUTION NO. 277-71 RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROVING THE UNDERTAKING OF SURVEYS AND PLANS FOR AN URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT AND THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WHEREAS, under Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended (herein referred to as "Title I") , the Secretary of Housing and Urban Develop- ment is authorized to extend financial assistance to local public agencies in the elimination and prevention of the spread of their slums and urban blight through the planning and undertaking of Urban Renewal projects ; and WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment make surveys and prepare plans , presently estimated to cost approximately four hundred and twelve thousand, seven hundred and six ($ 412,706) dollars in order to undertake and carry out an urban renewal project of the character contem- plated by Section 110 (c) of Title I in the proposed Urban Renewal Area, situated in the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, which is described as follows : Beginning at a point formed by the intersection of the west right-of-way line of Olive Street and the north right-of-way line of the first alley north of Kenwood Street; thence in an easterly direction on the north right- of-way line of said alley to the east right-of-way line of Huey Street; thence in a southerly direction along the east right-of-way line of Huey Street to the north right-of-way line of Kenwood Street; thence in an easterly direction along the north right-of-way line of Kenwood Street to the east right-of-way line of Johnson Street; thence in a southerly direction along the east right-of-way line of Johnson Street to the north right-of-way line of the first alley north of Linden Street; thence in an easterly direction along the north right-of-way of said alley to the west right-of-way line of Wilber Street; thence in a northerly direction along the west right-of-way line of Wilber Street to the west extension of the north property line of 319 Birdsell Street; thence in an easterly direction along the north property line of 319 Birdsell Street to the east right-Of-way line of Birdsell Street; thence in a southerly direction along the east right-of-way line of Birdsell Street to the north right-of-way line of the first alley north of Linden Street; thence in an easterly direction along the north right-of-way of said alley to the east right- of-way line of Walnut Street; thence in a southerly direction along the east right-of-way line of Walnut Street to the south right-of-way line of Liston Street; thence in a westerly direction along the south right-of-way line of Liston Street to the west right-of-way line of Studebaker Street; thence in a northerly direction along the west right-of-way line of Studebaker Street to the south right-of-way line of Colfax Street; thence in a westerly direction along the south right- of-way line of Colfax Street to the west right-of-way line of Birdsell Street; thence in a northerly direction along the west right-of-way line of Birdsell Street to the south property line of 135 Birdsell Street; thence in a westerly direction along the south property line of 135 Birdsell Street to the south right-of-way line of Colfax Street which continues in a straight line westerly from the south property line of 135 Birdsell Street, to the west right-of-way line of Adams Street, thence in a northerly direction along the west right-of-way FILED IN CLERK'S OFFICE JUN i 11971 KATHRYN L.
