SOUTH BEND A
c 1_1-Y C[dURC1_1
.1
Event- VA (A Best Week Ever event!)
Sponsor: South Bend City Church (non-profit) along with our partners at Hope Ministries and
Center for the Homeless. There will be no overtly religious element, nor South Bend City
Church branding to this event.
Purpose. The primary purposes of the Belly Burst are to engage the city of South Bend in
enjoying life together and to raise funds and awareness for homelessness and the local service
providers (Center for the Homeless & Hope Ministries). This will be a not -for -profit event with
all proceeds going to those service providers.
Description: The Belly Burst is a run For people who hate running. It will be short (about half a
mile, less than 1 kilometer), from the Studebaker complex to Hope Ministries. Instead of
normal water and protein stops most races have, the Belly Burst will feature donut & dessert
stops as well as REAL rest areas with hammocks, comfortable chairs, or parachute games. In
short, it will be the best run you've ever been on. We plan to have U93 present & providing
music for the event as well as other activities aimed at achieving our two purposes. The Belly
Burst. Minimum movement. Maximum impact,
Participants: We expect over 1000 people to participate in the run.
Street use: We would like to use the streets and sidewalks of Lafayette St between Sample
and Monroe St., as well as (potentially) Scott Street (?) between the Street Department building
and Lafayette. Our initial staging will be in the Studebaker complex parking lots. if the main
lot South of Building 113 is Finished (flat and safe), we can just enter Lafayette from there. If it Is
still in development, we will need to use the lots closer to Building #112 for staging and will
then use Scott Street to access Lafayette.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call. I look forward to leisurely eating donuts with
you during the Best Week Ever,
Peace,
Ryan Yazel
Pastor for City Engagement
South Bend City Church
