ORDINANCE NO. ~ ~ ~3 ~ <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING $177,750.00 FROM THE <br />GENERAL FUND (#101) IN 2009 FOR THE OFFICE OF ENERGY <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The City of South Bend has secured a $250,000 federal Energy Efficiency and <br />Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) from the National Energy Technology Laboratory <br />for the initial strategy development phase of an energy conservation plan. The initial <br />strategy development phase must be completed within 120 days, at which time the City <br />will be eligible for additional EECBG funding of $1,046,800 to implement the strategy. <br />With this grant assistance, the City of South Bend wishes to establish a new high-level <br />Office of Energy, seeking to reduce energy consumption costs citywide from $7 million <br />to $5 million annually. The purpose of this ordinance is to establish the 2009 budget for <br />the Office of Energy as a separate department in the General Fund <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I: The following sum of money is hereby appropriated in the fiscal year 2009 <br />and ordered set apart from and within the General Fund (#101) for expenditures as <br />follows: <br />2009 <br />Type of Expenditure Bud et <br />Personnel costs (two months) $ 15,000.00 <br />Office supplies 1,500.00 <br />Contractual services 154,250.00 <br />Capital equipment 7,000.00 <br />TOTAL 2009 BUDGET $177,750.00 <br />SECTION II.
