Taylor Street, South Bend, IN <br />46601, have submitted a request to vacate the above referenced alley for safety purposes and to <br />install a gate. Mr. Gilot advised the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning <br />this Vacation Petition from the Fire Department, Solid Waste, and Engineering. Engineering <br />noted the petitioner must understand they may not have adequate space to access the west side of <br />their back garage with a vehicle if the alley is vacated. Community Investment stated this <br />vacation would hinder the growth or orderly development of the unit or neighborhood in which it <br />is located. They noted the City of South Bend is the predominant land owner of the Wayne <br />Street/William Street/Western Avenue/Taylor Street block and wishes to preserve each of the <br />current alley accesses for future redevelopment. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion for an <br />unfavorable recommendation of the request for vacation. Ms. Dorau seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />
