Mr. Garces stated, What you are describing would require the City to set up a municipal utility. <br /> We've been trying to add wireless access to parts of the City. <br /> Mr. Campau stated, Yeah, that is great and all, but I think we should still look at fiber. <br /> Committeemember Dr. David Varner stated, We've got folks who are a part of not-for-profits <br /> that are paying taxes and accessing these things already. From my understanding of things,that <br /> is something they would probably want to get into anyway. <br /> Mr. Campau replied, Actually, MetroNet doesn't really want to because they provide different <br /> things. <br /> Mr. Garces passed out copies of the Annual Report for the Department of Innovation and <br /> Technology. There was brief discussion on the contents of this booklet, and it can be found filed <br /> in hard copy in the Office of the City Clerk. <br /> Committee Chair Scott opened brief discussion on PSAP and the few technical issues facing the <br /> program. <br /> With no other business to discuss, Committee Chair Scott adjourned the Information and <br /> Technology Committee meeting at 6:03 p.m. <br /> espectfully Submitted"\ <br /> Tim Scott, Chairperson J <br />
