• r <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 360- ?-3 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, IN <br /> SUPPORT OF H.B. 1476. <br /> WHEREAS, the cost of the police and fire pension <br /> funds is increasing; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council is concerned about <br /> the cost of said pension plan to the property taxpayers; and <br /> WHEREAS, a bill has been introduced in the State <br /> House of Representatives designated H.B. 1476, which amends <br /> existing police and fire laws to provide that no policeman or <br /> fireman hired after July 1, 1973 , shall be eligible to receive <br /> a pension benefit until the completion of at least 20 years of <br /> active service and the attainment of age 55; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council desires to express <br /> its support of said H.B. 1476. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council <br /> of the City of South Bend as follows: <br /> SECTION I. The Council strongly favors passage of <br /> H.B. 1476. <br /> SECTION II. A copy of this resolution be forwarded <br /> by the City Clerk to the President of the Indiana Senate and <br /> the Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives. <br /> SECTION III.
