Animal Control Commission Minutes August 2, 2016 6:55 p.m.
Commission Members Present: Earnest Galos, Emily Sexton, Betsy Culp
Citizen Members Present: None
Council Members Present: None
City Staff Present: None
Agenda:
Earnest Galos took minutes of the meeting held in July.
There were some questions raised regarding shelter management, shelter times, the
cancelation of events, and vaccination clinics. It was suggested that the commission should
go to council meetings to get updates on these concerns, for they feel the commission is in
the dark on some of these issues.
A question was also raised regarding the funding that comes from the SBACC citations.
Emily Sexton stated that not many citations come in. There was then discussion on whether
the SBACC should branch out to issue more citations.
There was then overall discussion had on what all the SBACC can do. Suggestions were
made of having more employees at the shelter and focusing on the possible beautification
and /or clean -up thereof. A point was raised that there have been bad experiences in the
fostering of dogs and that the shelter is waiting to alter some of their processes.
It was heavily implied that the commission needs to make more of an impact. They urged
the follow -up on the SBACC citation and violation process as well as going through past
minutes and hearings. The next meeting will be held on September 611 at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting adjourned 7:37 p.m.
Filed in Clerk's Office
APR 12 2011
KAREEMAH FOWLER
CITY CLERK, SOUTH BEND, IN
