y,.
William C. Gilkey
Director, Human Resources and
Economic Development
CITY of SOUTH BEND
PETER J. NEMETH, Mayor
COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601
Mr. Roger 0. Parent
President
South Bend Common Council
City of South Bend
400 County -City Building
South Bend, IN 46601
Dear Mr. Parent:
July 6, 1977
219/284 -9409
The Division of Community Development is submitting, as required by
Ordinance No. 6015 -76, a resolution authorizing the expenditure of
$8,540.00 for contractual services. The funds will be used to purchase the
1976 -1977 Polk Profiles of Change for the City of South Bend.
The Profiles of Change is an urban statistical package which includes
population, housing, social and economic data on the current conditions
and trends in the city and its census tracts.
The "Polk Data" has been a valuable planning tool and document not only
for the Community Development Program, but also for general planning and
city management functions. We have utilized Polk Data to develop specific
plans and programs. More importantly, we have found that the "Polk Data"
can be used in the preparation of a variety of grant applications, i.e.,
the Rebate Grant, the Homesteading Grant, the Public Works Grant, etc.
Your favorable consideration is requested in this matter.
If you have any questions or require additional information concerning
the enclosed contract, please call Mr. Jon Hunt of the Community Development
staff (284- 9335).
Sincerely,
Carl Ellison
Director
CE :jmr
Enclosure
cc: Jon R.
