October �, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, October <br />2, 1961 at 10:00 A.M. DST. Minutes of the last regular meeting and the <br />special meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered <br />paid to the various suppliers. All members were present. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER ( TRAFFIC SIGNS) <br />The Board approved the inst4llation of the following traffic signs upon <br />the recommendation of the Traffic Engineer: <br />2 - 2 Hr. Time Limit Parking 6 A.M. to 6-P.M. installed in front of <br />2007 S. Michigan <br />2 - 30 Min. Parking 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. installed at 106-114 N. Walnut St. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( <br />STREET LIGHTS) <br />Following the recommendation <br />of Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the <br />Electrical Department, <br />the <br />following installations were approved: <br />cal <br />1 ,- 4000 lumen -light <br />at <br />1814-S`. William --St. <br />1 = 4000 lumen light <br />at <br />1720 S. William St. <br />1 - 4000 lumen light <br />at <br />610 S. Edison Ave. <br />1 - 4000 lumen light <br />at <br />541 Cleveland Ave. <br />1 - 4000 lumen light <br />at <br />612 Cleveland Ave. <br />1 - 4000 lumen light <br />at <br />515 Cleveland Ave. <br />CIVIL DEFENSE MINUTES <br />Minutes of a Meeting of <br />the <br />St. Joseph County Civil Defense Advisory Council <br />held on September 13, 1961 <br />were presented to the Board, accepted and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT (SUB -STANDARD DIV.) HEARINGS <br />Hearing on a case regarding <br />property located at 232 Sample Street,.was <br />continued until October <br />9, <br />1961. <br />With reference to property at 830 S. Rush Street, purchased by Mr. Taylor, <br />which has been condemned, Mr. Grabarz reported that Mr. Taylor had promised <br />to bring house up to standard but that this had not been accomplished to date. <br />After hearing Mr. Taylor and being assured by Mr. Taylor that he wanted to <br />continue remodeling this dwelling and that said remodeling would be completed <br />by December, the Board continued the case until December 11, 1961 at which <br />time structure should be up to standard. <br />Mr. Grabarz issued a progress report on property owned by Mrs. Chause at <br />917 N. Francis Street, a repair order issued in June, 1961 has not been <br />complied with in the 60 days allowed for such repairs. <br />Case continued for one week. <br />With reference to property at 612 Jackson Street, the owner failed to appear <br />at this meeting as ordered. Mr. Grabarz was instructed to proceed with <br />demolition. <br />Mr. Grabarz reported that a new'house under construction at 417 St. Vincent <br />Street was creating a hazard because of weeds and the fact that the con- <br />struction has not been completed and poses problems for vandalism and injury. <br />After hearing Mr. Grabarz, the Board ruled that the case be continued for <br />two weeks before emergency action is taken. <br />Mr. Grabarz reported that Mrs. Edward Dobbs, 3821 W. Washington Avenue had <br />
