August 21, 1961 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, August 21, <br />1961 at 10:00 A.M. DST. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular <br />meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the <br />various suppliers. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ( STREET LIGHTS) <br />Following the recommendation of Nicholas Horvath, Superintendent of the <br />Electrical Department, the Board approved the installation of the following <br />street lights: <br />The <br />1. A 4000 lumen light at Vernerlee Lane & Rose St. <br />2. A 4000 lumen light at Arcadia & Rose St. <br />3. A 4000 lumen light at Ketterling & Spokane St. <br />4. A 4000 lumen light at 1044 N. Goodland Ave. <br />5. A 4000 lumen light at Kaley & Marquette. <br />6. A 4000 lumen light at 1101 W. Hancock <br />7. A 25000 lumen light at 423 S. Camden (In rear alley). <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />also approved the <br />Remove 6 - 4000 lumen lights <br />Remove 2 - 6000 lumen lights <br />Install 15 - 109000 lumen arterial lights, <br />(Plan filed with Electrical Department) <br />as per attached plan. <br />The Common Council referred a petition from Mrs. Marguerite Whorton and others <br />for a light in the 3000 block on Prast and Frederickson Street alley because 6t <br />prowlers in the neighborhood to the Board. <br />The Board, after examination of the petition, referred it to the Electrical <br />Department for investigation and report. <br />STREET LIGHT s©UTAGE::-RERORT <br />A Street Light Outage Report was accepted by the Board and ordered placed on <br />file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT (HOUSE MOVE HEARING) <br />The Building Department submitted an application for a house move from Marvin <br />Grove to move a 18' x 20' garage from 1017 Fisher Street to 606 Euclid Avenue. <br />Since this structure is above the limits for moving without a hearing, the Board <br />authorized the Building Department to contact the owner of the structure and <br />make arrangements for a hearing. <br />The Board alto instructed the Traffic Engineer to assist the owner and the move <br />will be permitted, pending the advice and recommendation of the Traffic Engineer. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( RE: HEARING GERMAN BENEFICIAL UNION) <br />Mr. Grabarz appeared before the Board to report that a charge of violating the city <br />fire prevention ordinance has been filed in City Court against a contractor who <br />carried out demolition work on a condemned building at 610 N. Walnut St. <br />The contractor named is Wayman A. Moran, 210 E. Indiana Avenue. <br />Mr. Grabarz contended thtt the building was demolished last spring, said building <br />being the German Beneficial Union at 610 N. Walnut Street and that the contractor <br />has not removed dangerout and inflammable material after being ordered to do so. <br />Mr. Moran and officials of the insurance company were ordered to appear this date <br />before the Board to show cause why they had failed to comply with the above <br />orders. <br />After hearing the facts, the Board continued the case until August 28 to allow <br />time for a hearing on the City_Court charge. <br />
